How to Figure Out a Hair Routine
Hair care doesn’t come naturally to everyone, but good care is essential for the healthiest look and feel. However you come up with a hair routine, make sure it’s customized just for you in order to reap the most benefit. No matter what you do make sure that you have the basics covered – proper nourishment of the hair. Hair that is properly nourished will be healthier and more vibrant. Hair that is properly nourished will also grow.
Do you know if your hair’s nutritional needs are being met? If you have a diet that is rich in protein, vitamins and minerals you are giving your hair a sound nutritional start. If your diet doesn’t consist of all things health, don’t sweat it – HAIRFINITY is a vitamins supplement that will provide you with a combination of vitamins and minerals and also biotin for growth.
What Every Hair Routine Should Contain
- Cleansing
- Conditioning
- Deep Conditioning
- Protein
- Clarifying
- Trimming
What makes your routine perfect for you is how often you perform each of these tasks, as well as the products you choose. Regular cleansing is a must, and ideally should be done weekly, or at least every 10 days. You can use a shampoo, cleansing bar, or only conditioner if you co-wash exclusively. Conditioning should follow each shampoo. Your deep conditioning schedule can be anywhere from once per week to once per month, depending on your hair’s needs.
The last three components in a routine will vary widely, and are determined by what you do to your tresses. Natural women who don’t color their hair, and rarely heat treat it can get away with infrequent, light protein treatments; bimonthly may be plenty. Women who relax, heat style often, and/or color their hair need more protein in order keep their tresses strong. These ladies will also have to deep condition more often to counterbalance the drying effects of the protein.
Clarifying, again, depends on the types of products you use. Anything heavy or greasy needs to be completely washed away at least once per month. Lightweight and water-based products require less clarifying, so if those are your staples, you can get away with clarifying less frequently, perhaps every couple of months or so.
Finally, trimming should be done on an as-needed basis if you want longer hair. If you heat style regularly, examine your ends weekly to identify splits. Your trim schedule may be every four to six weeks. If you rarely use heat or don’t color your hair, you probably need to trim less often; a four to six month schedule may work better for you.
Even a perfect hair routine may need tweaking if you experience major changes in your lifestyle, environment or even health. Be prepared to switch it up in order to keep your hair looking great.
